Offering some of the best odds, in baccarat (pronounced BA-CA-RAH) eight decks are shuffled together, and players bet on the bank or the player. Two cards are dealt to each player and the banker. Face cards and tens have no value. The winning hand is the total closest to nine.

Once players place their bets, one player known as the “shooter” throws the dice. Players can bet on the main game—known as the “Pass Line” and “Don’t Pass Line”—but wagers can be placed on other predictions. If you’re rolling the dice, make sure to roll them hard enough to hit the back wall. The game is played in rounds, and players take turns rolling the dice.

The roulette wheel features numbers 1–36 in alternating red and black colors, as well as 0 and 00 in green. Bets can be placed on individual numbers or groups of numbers, and the ball will come to rest on the winning number on the roulette wheel.

Each player plays against the dealer, known as the “house”—who deals eachplayer two cards and the house one card face-up and one card face-down. Cards are counted at face value, with Kings, Queens and Jacks counted at 10.Aces count as 1 or 11. The object of the game is to total 21—or come closest to totaling 21—without going over.
